About

About: Bring the Books
Bring the Books is a calling to help meet needs of our brothers and sisters in rural China. The inspiration for the project comes from 2 Timothy 4:13 where Paul, writing from the isolation of prison, asks Timothy to bring "the cloak … also the books, and above all the parchments", which were his coat, books and probably the Word. The things he needed addressed body, mind and soul. In this same way, we want to address these same needs of our brothers and sisters in rural China. This also imitates Jesus who often addressed both the physical and spiritual needs of the people to whom he ministered.

Biblical Basis

The Biblical Basis for a Program to Provide Bibles and Books to Christians in China
  • If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need but has no pity on him, how can the love of God be in him? 1 John 3:17 (NIV)
The love of God in us compels us to share what we have with our brothers and sisters in need.

  • Suppose a brother or sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to him, “Go, I wish you well; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about his physical needs, what good is it? In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead. James 2:15-17 (NIV)
Giving to our brothers and sisters in need is an expression of true living faith.

  • Let this be written for a future generation, that a people not yet created may praise the LORD. Psalm 102:18 (NIV)
Books are one way that the Word of God has been passed from generation to generation.

  • And now, go, write it before them on a tablet and inscribe it in a book that it may be for the time to come as a witness forever. Isaiah 30:8 (ESV)
Books and the written Word are a means used by God to communicate truth and to communicate this truth from generation to generation.

  • All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work. 2 Timothy 3: 16, 17 (ESV)
Books are one way in which Believers can become equipped and can equip others.

  • Make known among the nations what he has done. 1 Chronicles 16:8 (NIV)
The Bible commands us to make God and his works famous throughout the world.

How It Works

  1. Bring the Books workers actively identifying Orphanages, Seminaries and rural Churches where the biggest need for Christian resources exists.
  2. Individuals, Churches, and Foundations in the West donate funds for Bring the Books program.
  3. Bring the Books workers distribute blankets, books and Bibles to orphanages, seminaries and churches throughout rural areas of China.
  4. Bring the Books workers follow up with recipients of the books and Bibles to assess effectiveness and, if necessary, recommend changes to distribution strategy.
  5. Report results and impact on website and/or social media sites so that financial partners can track progress.
